Brazilian Hair
Removal
Brazilian hair
removal, also known as Brazilian wax or Brazilian bikini
line, may be an option for you if you can no longer bare
to be greeted by the sight of your pubic hairs, or are
simply tired of shaving your pubic hairs. Never heard of
Brazilian hair removal before? Well, it is a hair removal
treatment method using wax to help the patient go bare -
down there. Yes, removing genital hair is quite a common
practice and, when it was first introduced, it used to be
a rage in Hollywood where many celebrities proudly
admitted in the press to going for Brazilian hair removal
- or Brazilian waxing - on a regular
basis.
Previously the
domain of porn stars and pin-up women, nowadays housewives, college
students, busy executives and professionals of all
ages seek regular Brazilian hair removal treatments
to remove everything for that "clean feeling" or health
(hygiene) reasons. However, people who are price
sensitive, inhibitive of their bodies, or have sensitive
skin, may shy away from Brazilian waxing as it can be
painful for them. For these group of people, they may
prefer to shave instead, using products such as Sally
Hansen's brazilian cream. But possibly the only good
thing about shaving oneself by getting a do-it-yourself
kit is savings in terms of
costs.
Brazilian hair removal method, which is not a
permanent hair removal method, is said to be introduced in New
York in 1987 by seven Brazilian sisters. However, despite its
name, Brazilian wax is not really popular in Brazil, and
Brazilians do not have a special name or nickname for it. Some
people are confused by the terms Brazilian waxing, bikini wax,
bikini waxing, or bikini line hair removal. In a nutshell, a
Brazilian removes everything, whereas hair removal of bikini
line means removing pubic hairs in such a manner that it
(hairs) won't be seen when you wear a bikini! A few people call
this method brazilian bikini waxing.
Most of the time, customers who requested for
a Brazilian wax job are females, but complete or full removal
of hair in the genital area also have a male clientele.
However, not all salons or clinics do Brazilian waxing for men
because most are staffed with female technicians who are
generally uncomfortable performing penis hair removal
procedures.
What to expect of a Brazilian hair removal
procedure
Firstly, when you opt for Brazilian
hair removing, you will be asked whether you want the
Brazilian wax or the Brazilian Hollywood types. The
difference is that the former leaves a thin strip
(roughly one or two fingers of hair) intact on the pubis
while the latter takes hair removal to the extreme and
leaves you completely hair-free.
Once you have digested all information
and decided on option 1 or 2 methods, you will be asked
to remove all clothing waist down, and instructed to lie
on a bed with your legs raised. A lamp will be directed
at the area and a magnifying glass will be used to
illuminate and magnify the site respectively. This way
the tiniest hair will be seen. Long pubic hair will be
snipped with a trimmer or hair remover, after which talc
is sprinkled over the area stretching from vagina to
anus.
For those who can't suffer or imagine
the indignity of having their private parts splayed for
some stranger to scrutinise before she rips out every bit
of hair, then Brazilian hair removal is not for you. This
is because once the light and magnifying glass is in
place, there will be more exposure than at your gynae's.
The beauty therapist will ask you to lift your legs in
all sorts of uncomfortable angles (mind you, the anus is
quite hard to reach when you are lying on your back). At
times, you may also be asked to help pull your skin taut
for a clean sweep.
Next, hot wax (not cold wax) is spooned
onto the skin in the areas being treated using a spatula.
When wax is hot, it enters the follicle, allowing the
hair to be removed, or rather pulled out, from the root.
Once ready, it will then be pulled off in one swift
stroke. Repeat applications on the same region is usually
minimised to avoid skin tearing. An experienced therapist
should have the Brazilian hair removal job done in 10
minutes.
How long will the "clean look" from a
Brazilian waxing job last? It differs among individuals
but the average guide is between 3 and 6 weeks. Most
salons will recommend that the hair grow back to at least
a quarter inch before the next waxing. Do take note that
Brazilian laser hair removal is also now available -
swapping wax with lasers. Refer to the article
cost of laser hair
removal to see how much Brazilian hair removal
or bikini hair removal cost in some
countries.
A word of caution: For 24 hours after
waxing, do not shower with hot water, apply suntan
lotion, go for a sauna, sunbathe or scrub the waxed
area.
