Intensed Pulse Light Hair
Removal
Intensed Pulsed Light (IPL) hair removal procedure which also known
as Flashlamps, MultiLight or PhotoLaser is a procedure used significantly to remove hair around the face and
hands and perform photoaging skin treatment. It uses filters to focus the burst of the high energy light
pulse and cause damage to the hair and follicles. Unfortunately, IPL is not effective on white, grey or red
hair where there is no pigment found.
Since it was introduced in the mid-90s, IPL
treatment has become largely popular compared to the traditional laser treatment due to its safe spectrum. Most
commonly used to remove facia hair, birthmarks, tattoo, acne and scars. IPL implies skin resurfacing treatment
procedure in conjunction to its removal treatment where it eliminates fine lines, spider veins and pigmentation
which reduce deep acnes and scarring.
Due to its gentle broad spectrum, IPL is more
smooth to the skin and eliminate the risk of burning, blistering, skin redness and rosacea. IPL treatment also has
proven to reduce pore sizes thus makes the skin feels more smoother. Other than that, IPL stimulates collagen
reproductions, plumping them and makes the face looks more younger.

During the procedure, clients are to wear
protective goggles to avoid direct contct with the light source. A handheld device is used to touched the treated
area which issue pulses of lights, damaging the hair and follicle. Stinging or tingling sensation sometimes can be
felt during the procedure. Applying anaesthetic creams to the targeted area might ease the
process.
The treatment may took as long as 10 to 60
minutes per session depending on the treated area and if you?re expecting dramatic effect when undergoing IPL after
a session, that wouldn?t possibly occur since the effects will appear significantly after four or six sessions of
treatments. The number of sessions depends on various aspect of the clients? skin characteristic such as thickness,
skin type and the hair colour.
Each session of treatment are recommended to have two to four weeks interval. This makes it suitable for those who
don?t want to be conspicuous especially to males who prone in denying any form of facial rejuvenation. Plus, it is
a very suitable for those always on the go due to its minimal treatment down time.
Since IPL is gentler to the skin, the risk of
pigmentation loss is reduced to the minimum thus very safe for those with darker skin compared to a traditional
laser treatment. The more often the treatment undergoing, the more rejuvenate the effect but beware of risk of
burning. By choosing an experienced and professional practitioner, this risk can be balanced.
However, there will be slight post procedural
effect after undergoing an IPL treatment such as your face will turn pinkish momentarily and loss of pigment in the
deeper treatment area. This can be treated by applying high UV sunscreen approximately 15+ or more to the affected
area.
Medical
histories and backgrounds also need to be checked before undergoing IPL treatment to ensure health compatibilities.
A person is strictly prohibited to undergo an IPL treatment if they are under these medical conditions:
1. Pregnant.
2. Sensitive to light based treatment.
3. Wounded and infectious area of treatment.
4. History of taking Isotretinoin previously.
Although IPL makes the skin looks smoother
and rejuvenate, but it wont work against natural aging such as sagging skin. This requires a different type of
treatment called `Thermage'. A face lift, neck lift or ?thread lift? which gives some `lifting' effect perhaps are
in order.
